The administration of an authoritative parliamentary association arrived in Astana on a two-day official visit as part of a tour of the Central Asian region.

During the meeting in the MFA of RK, the sides discussed issues relating to the state and prospects of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the OSCE, the international agenda, and further strengthening of the inter-parliamentary dialogue.

According to K. Abdrakhmanov, parliamentary diplomacy is an effective and reliable instrument of interstate relations and should be used by all participants of the international arena to the fullest in order to achieve common goals. The Kazakhstan diplomat praised the work of the leadership of the OSCE PA, which makes an important contribution to the solution of the urgent tasks facing the Organization in all three dimensions of security. At the same time, the readiness of our country to continue effective cooperation with the Assembly and the OSCE structures in this direction was emphasized.

G.Tsereteli noted the high dynamics of interaction between Kazakhstan and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. According to the OSCE PA Chairman, Kazakhstan is a responsible and reliable partner who shares the fundamental values of the Organization. The meeting touched upon the impressive socio-economic and foreign policy successes achieved by Kazakhstan during the years of independence. The observed process of technological transformation of the country under the wise leadership of the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, thanks to which Kazakhstan becomes a number of developed countries of the world, is highlighted.

As part of the discussion of international issues, the foreign policy of President Nursultan Nazarbayev and his international peacekeeping efforts were highly appreciated. Foreign politicians and experts expressed support for the initiatives of the Head of State to strengthen global security and cooperation, voiced during the meeting of participants of the Astana Club on November 13, 2018. According to the leadership of the OSCE PA, these initiatives are particularly relevant and in demand in the current environment of weakened security and lack of trust.

The parties also agreed on the need for further expansion of international cooperation and involvement of people's representatives in the fight against modern challenges and threats, including international terrorism, religious extremism, illegal migration, drug trafficking, transnational organized crime, etc.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue a constructive dialogue on issues of mutual interest and agreed to maintain close working contacts, good traditions of which were laid during the chairmanship of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the OSCE, the preparation of its only summit in the 21st century and beyond.

As part of the visit of the OSCE PA delegation to Kazakhstan, meetings were also held with the Chairman of the Senate, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, and the Chairman of the Majilis, Nurlan Nigmatulin. Meetings are planned with the Chairman of the Supreme Court, Zhakyp Asanov, the leadership of the Prosecutor General and the Ministry of the Interior.

At the end of the visit to Kazakhstan, a parliamentary delegation will visit Uzbekistan.

Brazil’s version of Trump: why is it a «wake-up call» for the world?

A racist, a homophobe, a misogynist, a pro-torturer. Because of the profane outbursts and verbal abuse, he has earned such an image and was even considered as a political clown. Once he insulted lawmaker claiming that she was too ugly to be worth of raping. What is more, he said that he’d rather have a dead son than a gay one. Therefore, analysts concluded that Brazil has elected the most extremist president among democratic countries. So why did Brazil decide to make «really radical shift»? How did such an «extreme» and «unpleasant» figure become a president?
