During the conversation, Nurlan Nigmatulin stressed the strategic character of Kazakhstan-Japan relations, which, according to the Speaker of the Majilis, gave a powerful impetus to the exchange of mutual visits of President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe.
Noting the interest of both countries to develop trade, economic and investment cooperation, Nurlan Nigmatulin stressed the active interaction of Kazakh and Japanese parliamentarians in recent years. At the same time, the Chairman of the Majilis expressed confidence that joint constructive work with Japanese colleagues would further strengthen the comprehensive cooperation of Kazakhstan and Japan.
In turn, the Ambassador of Japan Ichiro Kawabata, speaking about his work in Kazakhstan, noted that this period coincided with important events for Kazakhstan: the 25th anniversary of Independence, the 25th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Japan, EXPO 2017, the 20th anniversary Astana.
The Japanese diplomat highly appreciated the development of Kazakhstani-Japanese inter-parliamentary relations, which, according to Ichiro Kawabata, makes it possible to realize agreements reached at the highest level.
Ichiro Kawabata also noted the support of Kazakhstani parliamentarians in holding many international events related primarily to young people.
The Japanese ambassador expressed hope that in the future, the Kazakh-Japanese parliamentary relations will receive their progressive development.
