At the meeting, Kairat Kozhamzharov provided the Head of State with a report on the activities of the law enforcement agencies of the country and the fulfillment of the instructions set earlier.
The President of Kazakhstan said that the prosecution authorities are entrusted with the supreme supervision of the observance of the citizens' rights, legitimate interests, and the compliance with legislation.
"As of today, all measures to maintain law have been implemented in the country: we have reformed the law enforcement agencies and the judiciary, enacted the respective laws including those to protect businesses from illegal inspections," Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
The Head of State stressed the importance of continuing the efforts for the humanization of the criminal legislation and pointed to the fact that the number of prisoners in Kazakhstan has decreased by 35%. In turn, the Prosecutor General informed the President of Kazakhstan on the work being undertaken to reform the criminal procedure. Besides, he underscored that due to these activities, the general crime in the country has been reduced by 10 percent than a year ago.
"The prosecution authorities take consistent measures to safeguard the protected rights and legitimate interests. As a result of inspections over the observance of labor rights, land relations, and tariff legislation conducted over the past six months of this year, we have safeguarded and reinstated the rights of more than 3 million citizens," Kairat Kozhamzharov said.
At the end of the meeting, Nursultan Nazarbayev gave a number of specific instructions.
