The meeting was attended by members of the National Investors Council, the leadership of the Presidential Administration and government agencies, members of the Presidium of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs Atameken, representatives of national companies and Kazakhstan business.
Anticipating the discussion, the Head of State noted that private initiative and free enterprise became the key factors of economic development and growth of the country's welfare, which predetermined the topic of the meeting - “Development of entrepreneurship as the basis for modernizing the country's economy”.
- Last year was successful for our business. The number of operating small and medium businesses increased by 11% and amounted to 1.3 million. The volume of production of SMEs grew by 14% and amounted to 26.5 trillion tenge. The share of SMEs in the economy increased over the past year from 25.6% to 28.3%. This is a good indicator. Started production of more than 500 types of products not previously manufactured in Kazakhstan. The export geography is expanding - domestic products are supplied to the markets of 120 countries of the world. But along with achievements, a number of problems remain. These are issues of business climate, markets, affordable financing,” said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
The President of Kazakhstan outlined a number of tasks to ensure a favorable business environment, effectively support business and protect competition. Particular attention was paid to the presentation of improving the financial sustainability of Kazakhstani companies and improving the business skills and competencies of domestic entrepreneurs.
At the end of his speech, the Head of State stressed that the Council of National Investors should become a permanent platform for the system dialogue between the country's top leadership and domestic business, and instructed the Government to introduce a draft decree approving the new format of the Council’s work.
