Nazarbayev wants to legally approve the last draft of Latin based alphabet

Nursultan Nazarbayev met with the Head of the Presidential Administration Adilbek Zhaksybekov and his first deputy Marat Tazhin, the Akorda’s Press Office reports.

During the meeting, President Nazarbayev noted the active discussion of the last draft of Latin based Kazakh alphabet and stressed the public’s support for the proposed version.

“It is necessary to issue a decree to approve the proposed alphabet. The commission completed its work. There is a consensus between scientists, linguists, politicians, youth, and representatives of the Kazakhstan People’s Assembly. In general, the society supports,” said the President of Kazakhstan.

Nursultan Nazarbayev drew attention to the importance of a phased and systemic transition of the Kazakh language from current Cyrillic to Latin alphabet.
