Today in the Mazhilis the Chairman of the Chamber Nurlan Nigmatulin received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland in Kazakhstan Selim Khazbievich, reports the press service of Majilis.

During the meeting, the strengthening of Kazakh-Polish relations was noted, a powerful impetus to the development of which, according to N.Nigmatulin, was given by mutual visits of the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and the President of Poland Andrzej Duda.

In the opinion of the Speaker of the Mazhilis, huge opportunities for bilateral cooperation are being opened within the framework of the implementation of the Agreement on Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation between Kazakhstan and the EU and the participation of our country in the EEU.

As N.Nigmatulin noted, providing access to the markets of Central Asia and China, Astana is a key partner of Warsaw in the region. In turn, Selim Khazbievich highly appreciated the level of political, diplomatic and economic relations between Kazakhstan and Poland. Among the promising areas, the interlocutors called joint participation in the development of transport infrastructure, in the application of “clean technologies” for coal processing and reduction of harmful emissions into the atmosphere, as well as in education. N.Nigmatulin and S.Khazbievich discussed issues on the international agenda.

The Speaker of the Mazhilis congratulated the diplomat on the beginning of Poland's work in the UN Security Council as a non-permanent member for 2018-2019, while emphasizing the similarity of positions on cooperation in the framework of joint work in the Security Council, noted by the presidents of Kazakhstan and Poland.

Especially on issues of strengthening peace and security, combating international terrorism and violent extremism. In this regard, the interlocutors confirmed the intention to strengthen cooperation in promoting common interests on the UN platform. Speaking about the development of comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, Nurlan Nigmatulin and Selim Khazbievich expressed confidence that an active inter-parliamentary dialogue would help to strengthen it.

In the course of the conversation, the Chairman of the Mazhilis conveyed to the Polish diplomat the words of congratulations on the remarkable dates this year - the 100th anniversary of Poland's independence and the 550th anniversary of the first meeting of the General Sejm - one of the oldest bicameral parliaments in Europe.
