Kazakh PM gives specific instructions on reaching young people with vocational education

August 7 at the meeting of the Government, Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev, after hearing the reports on the implementation of the State Program for the Development of Education and Science for 2016-2019, gave a number of specific instructions on the coverage of youth by vocational education and technical personnel training, reports

As Bakytzhan Sagintayev noted, summing up the consideration of the issue, the state provides broad support to everyone who wants to learn. On behalf of the Head of State, Free Vocational Education for All project is being implemented, within which the state order last year was increased from 75,000 to 100,000 places. At the same time, a low coverage of youth from 14 to 24 years remains — 17%. Inadequate career guidance and educational work leads to unemployed youth, the growth of its social isolation.

In this regard, the Ministry of Education and Science, together with the akims, the Atameken NCE is instructed to take systematic measures to reach unemployed youth with vocational, short-term, informal and additional education.

Secondly, the specialties received in high schools and colleges do not always correspond to the needs of the economic branches, especially in the digital sphere. The state order for the training of personnel is formed on the basis of demand in the professions, which was also shown during the working trips to the regions.

Proceeding from this, the Ministries of Education and Science, Labor and Social Protection of Population together with akims are instructed to continue joint work to improve educational programs taking into account the real needs of the economy in the cadres.

Sagintayev also instructed to establish feedback with the population, to conduct timely explanatory work on innovations affecting the interests of the majority of schoolchildren, teachers, parents. The Ministry of Education and Science was instructed to create more effective tools for feedback from the public, regions, including monitoring the implementation of the indicators of the State Program.

The control is entrusted to the Deputy Prime Minister Erbolat Dossaev.
