August 14 at the meeting of the Government chaired by Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev, in the framework of summing up the results of social and economic development and execution of the republican budget for 7 months of 2018, Minister for Investments and Development Zhenis Kassymbek reported on the development of industrial production.

According to Kassymbek, by the results of seven months of 2018 the volume of industrial production grew by 5.1%, including in the mining industry by 5.4%, in the manufacturing industry by 4.9%. The increase in industrial production is observed in 14 regions.

In the mining sector, the volume of extraction of non-ferrous metal ores increased by 3.1%, iron ore extraction by 7.4%.

"The increase in the extraction of iron ore is provided by increasing production at the Sokolov-Sarbai Mining Production Association JSC. The increase in the extraction of non-ferrous metal ores is associated with an increase in the production of copper ore at Kazakhmys Corporation LLP, Kopper Technology LLP and bauxite at Aluminum of Kazakhstan JSC,” said Kassymbek.

According to the Ministry of Investment and Development, in the manufacturing industry, growth in the metallurgical industry is observed at 3.6%, in the chemical industry by 10.9%, in machine building by 16%, in furniture production by 5.2% and in light industry by 2.3%.

At the same time, the planned figure for the transport complex was reached. Volume index for the period January-July was 104.9%.

"Based on the results of seven months of 2018, the total volume of container transportation through Kazakhstan amounted to 250,800 containers and grew by 40% compared to the same period last year. In the direction of the PRC-EU-PRC, this figure was 143,900 containers and grew by 63% compared to the same period 2017. The income from transport activities grew by 17.5% and amounted to 1.5 trillion tenge," Minister Kassymbek informed.

Along with this, the volume index for construction amounted to 101.3%. Positive dynamics is observed in 13 regions. The decline is observed in four regions: in Astana, Shymkent, in Atyrau and Pavlodar.

According to Kassymbek, in Astana the decrease is due to last year's high rate of construction of Expo-2017 facilities, Mega Silkway shopping center, a new airport terminal and the Nurly Zhol railway station. Shymkent reduced the amount of work in the construction of multi-apartment residential buildings. In Atyrau region, the volume of work on the construction of main pipelines and industrial facilities has decreased. In the Pavlodar region, the indicator decreased due to the completion of works on the modernization of the Pavlodar petrochemical plant.

Meanwhile, the implementation of the Nurly Zher National Program continues on housing construction. Since the beginning of the year, 608 billion tenge have already been invested, which is 129.7% higher than last year's level.

"6.8 million square meters of the total area of residential buildings was put into operation. The annual plan for housing construction is 55.8% complete. A total of 58,000 housing units were commissioned in the republic, including 23,662 individual houses," the minister said.

In addition, while maintaining these rates, including taking into account the launch of the mortgage lending program 7-20-25, according to Kassymbek, it is expected to reach the planned indicators for construction by the end of the year.

"In general, according to the results of 2018, it is planned to achieve the planned volume index in all sectors under the supervision of the ministry," added Kassymbek.

In turn, Vice Minister of Agriculture Berik Beisengaliyev reported that the volume of gross agricultural production for seven months increased by 3.5%.

"Growth was achieved due to an increase in livestock production by 4.1%. At the same time, the production of food products for this period increased by 4.4%,” Beisengaliyev said.

The Vice Minister noted that within the framework of the execution of the republican budget, the Ministry of Agriculture for 2018 allocated 355.5 billion tenge. The development plan for the reporting period amounted to 240.2 billion tenge, in fact, 233.2 billion tenge or 97.1% of the plan was actually disbursed.
