Kazakhstani fencer Dmitry Alexanin became the champion of the Asian Games-2018.

In the final, he was confronted by the Olympic champion from South Korea Pak San Yong. The struggle turned out to be very tense. The Korean in the third segment literally drove Alexanin, but the Kazakh did not give him the final - 15:12! His medal was the first Kazakhstan national team’s medal of the Asian Games.

He called his victory the fruit of a colossal work together with the coaches. He also said that he had dedicated his gold medal to Kazakhstan and the tragically died Denis Ten.

"I feel emotionally overwhelmed. Everything was great. The work was done tremendously. I want to express my gratitude to my coaches Albert Valentinovich and Alexei Borisovich. Together we aspired to the victory.

In the semifinal and final, I got the bronze prize-winner of the Olympics and also the current champion of the Olympic Games respectively. I knew that the second one would be in the final. It was hard, but I did it!  Alga, Kazakhstan!

Undoubtedly, I dedicate the victory to all Kazakhstani people and to Denis Ten. Tragic death and big loss.” said Alexanin.

In turn, the head coach of the team Alexey Pistsov noted that the opponent in the final used tactical techniques. This could affect the outcome, but Alexanin managed to win.

"How did we come to this? We worked hard.  Everything we achieved is the result of a hardwork. In Asia we were second, in the world we took the eighth place, today at the Asian Games are the first. It's good that it all happened that way”
