MES: From June 1, 2019, education workers’s salaries to be calculated using new formula

Introduction of new coefficients for the calculation of wages of low-paid public sector workers is planned from June 1, 2019. Minister of Education and Science Kulyash Shamshidinova reported on the work being carried out in education at a press conference in the Government.

The growth of wages of employees of educational organizations will be differentially increased from 10% to 30%. The grid of coefficients depending on the level of education, qualifications and working conditions will affect:

  • employees of the main link: teachers of colleges, teachers, psychologists, social teachers, kindergarten teachers, teachers of additional education;
  • support staff: nannies, kindergartens, room cleaners, janitors, guards, managerial staff: heads of colleges, schools, kindergartens;
  • core management staff.

“75% of the funds allocated to increase the wages of low-wage workers in budgetary areas go to the educational field,” said the minister.

At the same time, she recalled that since 2018, 208 thousand teachers (70%) receive a 30% extra charge for teaching on the updated content of education, 60 thousand teachers who have successfully passed qualification tests — 30-50% extra charge.

“Teachers are tested twice a — in May and November. Within three years, advanced training will be held: 144 thousand teachers on the updated content of secondary education, 82 thousand psychologists and class teachers, 15 thousand engineering and pedagogical workers of colleges, 2.4 thousand university teachers,” Shamshidinova informed.

According to her, integration into school curricula, development of IT-skills, implementation of project and research works, integration of knowledge and their practical application, extracurricular activities that complement the curriculum and aimed at the development of children will also be continued.

Updating of educational programs in the system of vocational and higher education will continue taking into account the requirements of the labor market, professional standards, WorldSkills standards, harmonization of educational programs with leading foreign universities, the foundations of entrepreneurship, project training.

In addition, pursuant to the instructions of Elbasy about attracting students to volunteering, the introduction of a system of volunteer vouchers will begin: for 25 hours — 25 thousand tenge and two credits, for 50 hours — 50 thousand tenge and five credits.

Thus, active students will be able not only to be proactive, but also to increase their income, working with children with special educational needs, with minor children of deviant behavior, carrying out social work with older children, engaging in tutoring.
