In accordance with the agenda of the extraordinary XIX Congress, the question of nominating a candidate from the party Nur Otan for the election of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan was considered.
Addressing party members, Elbasy N.Nazarbayev recalled the difficult path of becoming an independent Kazakhstan, which began in a deep crisis.
- The total economic collapse put the absolute majority of the population on the brink of survival. Many experts predicted inter-ethnic conflicts and upheavals. But, we have proved to the whole world that we deserve to live in our own, independent country in conditions of peace and harmony. My key principle, “first economy, then politics,” proved the absolute correctness, said the Chairman of the Nur Otan party.
The first President of Kazakhstan stressed that due to the pursued policy, the country became one of the dynamically developing states in the post-Soviet space.

- In the most difficult years for us, I sent thousands of young Kazakhstanis to the best universities in the world. Today we are creating an advanced education system already in Kazakhstan. Its core is the Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools and the Nazarbayev University, said Elbasy.

- I am proud that I had the honor to create an independent Kazakhstan together with my people. Despite difficult times, my people have always supported my endeavors. - Kassym-Jomart Tokayev from the first days of Independence worked alongside me at different sites. He is one of those who, together with me, began to build the foreign policy of Kazakhstan, for many years he headed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. His diplomatic rank is highly regarded abroad. You know that he was the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and is a very experienced state politician,” said Elbasy.
