​The book “He Makes History”presented in Ankara

On June 20 the capital of Turkey hosted a presentation of the book about the life and work of Nursultan Nazarbayev titled “He makes history". The book, written by Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was published in the in Turkish language with the support of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Turkey and the International Turkic Academy, reports the press service of MFA.

The book was translated into Turkish by the famous writer, diplomat and laureate of the Zhambyl International Prize, Malik Otarbayev.

The presentation was attended by the Ambassador of Kazakhstan in Turkey,AbzalSaparbekuly, Chief Advisor to the President of Turkey,YalçınTopçu, Secretary General of the Turkic Council, BagdatAmreyev, member of the Council of Aksakals of the Turkic Council, ProfessorAdilAkhmetov, First Secretary General of the Turkic Council, Ambassador HalilAkıncı, Deputy Mayor of the Turkestan region, writer Malik Otarbayev, as well as other government officials, members of parliament, scholars and representatives of the diplomatic corps.

In addition, in connection with the event, congratulatory letters were received on behalf of the Vice President of Turkey,FuatOktay, and Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Mustafa Sentop.

The event included a film about the role of Nursultan Nazarbayev in building an independent Kazakhstan.

In hiswelcoming speech, Ambassador Saparbekuly noted that thanks to Nursultan Nazarbayev,over a short period of time Kazakhstan has become a successful state recognized in the international arena. In this context, according to Mr. Saparbekuly, the book isa symbol of political continuity in Kazakhstan. Ambassador Saparbekuly also discussed the first initiativesof President Tokayev as Head of Stateand hisplans to improve the well-being of citizens, fight corruption and continue political reforms.

Delivering his speech, AdilAkhmetov stressed that the book comprehensively discloses the outstanding qualities of Nursultan Nazarbayev, thanks to which the most difficult tasks aimed at building a new Kazakhstan were fulfilled. According to Mr. Akhmetov, the book isparticularly valuable since the author has been next to Nursultan Nazarbayev for 30 years and was directly involved in the development of Kazakhstan, especially in building the country's foreign policy.

BagdatAmreyev emphasized that the history of the independence of Kazakhstan was closely connected with Nursultan Nazarbayev's name. “Elbasy works tirelessly for the benefit of not only Kazakhstan, but also Central Asia and the whole Turkic world," Mr. Amreyevstated. He also notedthat as proposed by President of Turkey RecepTayyip Erdogan and unanimously approved by all member states, Nursultan Nazarbayev was awarded the status of Honorary Chairman of the Turkic Council. In this capacity, Elbasy will continue his activities aimed at ensuring unity of the Turkic world.

In turn, YalçınTopçuTopçunoted the role of the strategic vision and policy of Nursultan Nazarbayev and stressed that he was the Aksakal and the pride of not only the Kazakh people, but also of the whole Turkic world. According to him, the book is the most important source of knowledge for future generations.

The second part of the event included a panel sessionmoderated by Chief Advisor of the ANKASAM think tank Professor SencerImer.

Duringhis speech, Malik Otarbayev focused on the spiritual significance of the city of Turkestan in the history of the Turkic world. He noted that a year ago, on June 19,Elbasy made a historic step to give impetus to the spiritual revival of Kazakhstan, renaming the South Kazakhstan region to Turkestan region and transferring the regional center to the ancient city of Turkestan. Today, around170 investment projects are being implemented in Turkestan, the largest of which is the construction of an international airport. The project is being implemented by a Turkish company. M. Otarbayev noted that Kazakhstan and Turkey areworking together on the spiritual, social and economic revival of Turkestan.

The First Secretary General of the Turkic Council, HalilAkinci, spoke about the measures of Turkey to support Kazakhstan and other Turkic countriesin the early years of their independence. According to Mr. Akıncı, Nursultan Nazarbayev managed to build a balanced policy between the West and the East. Thanks to this pragmatism, the Turkic Council was created.

The head of the Ankara Policy Center, Hasan Kanbolat, stated that the presidential election in Kazakhstan was held at a high level in line with democratic norms. He expressed confidence in the further development of Kazakhstan.

Professor Muhittin Ataman,Director of the SETAFoundation for Political, Economic and Social Research, in his report titled “Relations between Kazakhstan and Turkey in the New Period" focused on specific steps that need to be taken to enhance Kazakh-Turkish cooperation.

At the end of the event, Ambassador Saparbekuly presented the speakers with collection coins of the National Bank of Kazakhstan “KөkBori". The participants were also presented with the book “He makes history".
