Kazakhstan initiative on Islamic food security presented in Malaysia

Acting Director General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) Mr. Yerlan Baidaulet has paid a working visit to Malaysia, reportrs the press service of the club.

During the visit meetings with the Minister of Primary Industries Teresa Kok, Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Dato Salim bin Parlam, Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), Deputy Director General of the Department Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM), Deputy Director General of Malaysian Agricultural Research & Development Institute (MARDI) and the Chairman of Board of Directors of«Agrobank» was held. The delegation also visited the Research center «Crops for the Future (CFF)» where they have get acquainted with the latest technologies in the field of protection and development of new varieties of agricultural crops.

During the meetings, E. Baydaulet acquainted the Malaysian side with the goals and objectives of the organization, which was created by the initiative of the First President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev. At the same time, Mr. Yerlan Baidaulet stressed that cooperation within the framework of this organization will cover various areas and will provide opportunities for sharing experience in the field of innovations and modern technologies, as well as to hold coordinated action for providing necessary emergency and humanitarian assistance, in order to mobilize and manage financial and agricultural resources to enhance food security for member states. In this regard, Acting Director General has invited the Malaysian side to join the IOFS.

The Malaysian side positively assessed the prospects of cooperation in the agro-industrial sphere and noted that the idea of the organization is very relevant and directly linked to global security issues. In this regard has expressed the interest to the activity of the organization.
