Dariga Nazarbayeva supported UN initiatives to create a network of women's organizations in Central Asia

Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Dariga Nazarbayeva has met with the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, the Head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive diplomacy for Central Asia Natalia Herman, press service of the Senate reports.

Dariga Nazarbayeva supportes UN initiatives to create a network of women's organizations in Central Asia

During the meeting, parties discussed  issues of regional cooperation, strengthening the capacity of preventive diplomacy, support for women's and youth initiatives.

The Chairman of the Senate stressed that Kazakhstan supports the UN initiatives, interaction with the Organization and its structures is one of the priorities of the country's foreign policy.

"We are grateful to the UN leadership for the continued support of Kazakhstan's international initiatives. The visit of Secretary General Guterres to Kazakhstan in 2016 was a clear confirmation of this," the Head of the upper chamber noted.

Natalia Herman emphasized that Kazakhstan is perceived in the world as a model of economic and social development.

"Kazakhstan makes a great contribution to the cause of peace, stability and security. We appreciate that. We always see your country's active participation in important strategic projects. Therefore, now we would like Kazakhstan to take part in the creation of a network of women's organizations in Central Asia. I was inspired by You when you held a Regional conference on the empowerment of women in Afghanistan," N. Herman said.

D. Nazarbayeva expressed support for this initiative: "Expansion of women's participation in public administration, economic and social life should be fully supported and encouraged. This year, our chamber has also been replenished with female senators. This is very good, but we do not intend to stop there - in our country, the creation of effective social elevators for women is one of the priorities."
