First meeting of the foreign Ministers of Kazakhstan and Uruguay takes place in Nur-Sultan

Kazakh foreign Minister Mukhtar Tleuberdi met with Uruguayan foreign Minister Rodolfo Nin Novoa during the first visit of the foreign Minister of the Latin American country to Kazakhstan in the history of bilateral relations, press service of the Ministry of Foreign affairs reports. 

During the meeting, the Ministers noted the positive dynamics in the development of Kazakh-Uruguayan relations, discussed topical issues of the bilateral agenda, stated the need for further development of political dialogue, exchanged views on major international and regional problems.

The parties focused on the importance of increasing cooperation in trade, economic and investment areas, stressing the prospects for the development of cooperation between the Eurasian economic Union and MERCOSUR, as well as within the framework of the One Belt and One Road Initiative.

The foreign Minister of Kazakhstan, drawing attention to the favorable conditions created for foreign business, called on the Uruguayan side to implement joint projects in the field of agriculture and exchange of experience in the field of health and tourism. In order to increase contacts between people and rapprochement of cultures, the parties agreed to promote the signing of relevant agreements on visa liberalization.

The Ministers also expressed interest in deepening the dialogue in a multilateral format. The sides noted the importance of continuing constructive cooperation on topical issues of global security within the UN, paying special attention to the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and countering international terrorism.

In turn, R. Novoa confirmed the desire of Montevideo to further build constructive and mutually beneficial relations with Nur-Sultan and invited the head of the Kazakh foreign Ministry to visit Uruguay
