The international round table "Compatriots - orientation to the future" kicks off in Nur-Sultan.

Secretary of state Krymbek Kusherbayev welcomed the participants of the forum.

"You probably remember the words of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbasy, Chairman of the world Association of Kazakhs Nursultan Nazarbayev: "The Historical homeland for any Kazakh is one, wherever they may be – it is Kazakhstan". (...). We should be grateful that our independence has brought us together. During the round table, we should once again determine how to strengthen relations with the Kazakh diaspora abroad and how to instill cultural and traditional values. Over the years of independence, more than 1 million of our compatriots have returned to the country, who today contribute to the development of Kazakhstan. Of course, there are also shortcomings in the part of the work. Therefore, the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed the Government, the Presidential Administration to take specific additional measures for the compatriots who returned home," Krymbek Kusherbayev said in his speech.

The Secretary of state also recalled that two years ago, on behalf of Elbasy, the Otandastar Fund was established to support ethnic Kazakhs abroad.

"Now the Otandastar Foundation is actively developing and cooperating with representatives of Kazakh associations abroad. The memorandums are signed between the development institutions of Kazakhstan and the Kazakh diaspora in order to cooperate. To date, within the framework of measures to support ethnic Kazakhs abroad for 2018-2022, the quota for diaspora education in Kazakh universities has increased by 4%, while the number of students has reached 2747. In addition, the "Enbek" program for 2017-2021 solves the problem of housing and employment of our compatriots," Krymbek Kusherbayev said.

It should be noted that the round table will discuss the results of the activities of NAO "Otandastar Fund", as well as plans for 2020. In addition, at the round table, the heads of Kazakh associations will speak and talk about the work of their organizations abroad.
