Timur Kulibayev meets with the head of World Athletics

A meeting between the head of the National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan Timur Kulibayev and the President of World Athletics Sebastian Coe was held in Nur-Sultan, Olympic.kz reports.

In the capital of Kazakhstan, the famous sports functionary, two-time champion of the Olympic Games in Moscow-1980 and Los Angeles-1984 Sebastian Coe arrived with a two-day visit.

The main topic of the meeting between the head of the NOC and the President of World Athletics was the development of Kazakhstan's athletics, preparation for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic games. They also discussed a number of issues related to the construction of athletics facilities, training of coaches.

It should be noted that Sebastian Coe has repeatedly stressed one of the key roles of Kazakhstan as an important member of the organization in Central Asia.

"We are glad to welcome you to Kazakhstan. Your visit to our capital is of great importance not only in terms of cooperation, but also will have a special impact on the development of domestic athletics. Athletics occupies a special place in Kazakhstan's sport. In the last six Olympics, our athletes have repeatedly risen to the podium. The team also manages to prove itself at the world Championships. We honor the great traditions laid down by eminent Kazakhstanis in the past. Ahead of the Olympic games in Tokyo and in the asset of the athletics team already have won licenses. Our immediate priority is to obtain Olympic quotas. We thank you for providing full support and assigning Kazakhstan an important role in Central Asia, " Timur Kulibayev said.

President of World Athletics Sebastian Coe, in turn, noted that Kazakhstan is able to host major continental and world tournaments. A special moment for him was the presence of a reserve of athletes, for whom the necessary conditions for the growth of skill were created.

The heads of the NOC of Kazakhstan and World Athletics are members of the Commission of the International Olympic Committee on public relations and social development through sport.
