The Head of state learnt about educational and research activities of the institution, held a conversation with teachers and students. It is reported by the press service of Akorda.
Rector of the University Akhylbek Kurishbayev presented to the President new varieties of agricultural crops derived using modern methods of molecular biology and genetic engineering. For 5 years, scientists of the University managed to create new drought-resistant varieties of wheat and barley.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was told about the application of new technologies in the production of bioorganic fertilizers, digitalization of the veterinary system and the process of accounting of animals.
The Head of state was also informed about modern methods of space monitoring and remote sensing of the earth, which allow to control the processes of land use. These methods are already used by akimats of Aktobe and Akmola regions. The President believes that other regions should use the same practice.
In addition, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was informed about the University's relations with the leading scientific and educational centers of the world. One of the key areas of international cooperation of KazATU was the implementation of the roadmap developed jointly with the French University AgroParisTech, which allows to switch to double-degree education.
During the meeting with students, the Head of state noted the relevance of the use of advanced technologies.
