Germany and Kazakhstan to expand economic cooperation

During a working visit to Berlin, Kazakh Foreign Affairs Minister Mukhtar Tleuberdi met with The Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Heiko Maas, press service of MFA reports. 

The parties discussed the implementation of bilateral agreements reached in December last year during the first official visit of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Germany and schedule of upcoming meetings and visits at the highest levels.

German Foreign Minister H. Maas highly appreciated the reforms carried out by the President of Kazakhstan in freedom of peaceful assembly, political parties formation, death penalty abolition.

M. Tleuberdi also held several bilateral meetings with the heads of the largest companies in Germany and discussed opportunities for increasing cooperation and specific projects in waste processing and disposal, development of transport and logistics business, digitalization and information technologies fields.

On the same day, the Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan spoke at the New Year's reception of the Eastern Committee of the German economy (EKGE) as an honorary guest by the invitation of the German side. The event was also attended by heads of state bodies of Germany, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, heads of leading German companies and business associations.

In his speech, Minister M. Tleuberdi thanked the EKGE for its significant contribution to strengthening business ties between the business communities of the two countries. 

The business community expressed interest in increasing its presence and investment projects in Kazakhstan and thanked for the special attention of the Kazakh leadership to German projects.
