Kazakh President met with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on the sidelines of the 56th Munich Security Conference, Akorda reports.

The parties discussed the current state and prospects of the Kazakh-Canadian cooperation in trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian areas. The heads of states also considered interaction through international organizations and exchanged views on topical issues on the international agenda.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted the importance of further development of bilateral relations in economy, attracting investment, agriculture and technology.

"We have a close relationship with Canada and we highly appreciate the current level of our cooperation. I hope for further expansion of the range of interaction between our countries," the President of Kazakhstan said.

Having positively assessed the activities of the Canadian uranium company "Cameco" in Kazakhstan, the Head of state confirmed his readiness to continue providing all necessary conditions for Canadian business.

Justin Trudeau noted the long-term friendship and partnership between the two countries.

"Our countries have a lot in common in economic cooperation. We are successfully cooperating on several projects in the energy sector. I hope for further strengthening of our cooperation," the Canadian Prime Minister said.

The head of the government of Canada highly appreciated the efforts of the Kazakh President to implement political and economic reforms and expressed readiness to support the development of civil society and democracy.

At the end of the meeting, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Justin Trudeau invited each other to pay mutual visits.
