Agriculture Ministry of Kazakhstan Saparkhan Omarov met farmers. Poultry industry issues were discussed during the meeting.

Businessmen and representatives of the Agriculture Ministry discussed the current situation in the industry, current problems and ways to solve them. In particular, the issue of reducing the commodity-specific subsidy for egg producers was raised.

The head of the Ministry of agriculture noted that poultry farming is one of the priority sectors of the agro-industrial complex and food security, as well as the level and pace of development of related food industry enterprises, largely depends on its state and potential.

According to Minister, the Ministry of Agriculture has always been a supporter of joint work with the "Union of poultry farmers of Kazakhstan" on the development of the industry and expresses its readiness to further improve the mechanisms of state support and develop mutually acceptable approaches to improving the efficiency of the industry.

"At the same time, I believe that the heads of poultry enterprises need to more actively seek ways to independently address issues of production and economic activity. Currently, there is a potential for increasing the production of poultry products, " Saparkhan Omarov said.

Regarding the commodity-specific subsidy for egg producers, the Minister recalled that this type of support has been in effect for 10 years and its reduction from the very beginning was planned for January 1, 2020. At the same time, the Ministry of agriculture is ready to consider the proposals of farmers to replace this subsidy with another type of support that would meet the current tasks of the state to reduce import dependence and develop undeservedly forgotten meat and poultry farming.
