Agricultural exports in 2019 grew by 6.4%

In 2019, agricultural exports amounted to 12.41 million tons worth $3.29 billion, which is $198 million or 6.4% more than in 2018. At the same time, the share of export of processed products from the total export of agricultural products in 2018 amounted to 33.65%, reports.

The planned indicators of the state program for the development of the agro-industrial complex on the export of agricultural products by 24.1% were exceeded. Last year, 551 types of agricultural products were exported to 72 countries of the world.

It should be noted that over 50.2% of the export range of goods falls on processed agricultural products. The expansion of the list of export of processed products is the result of the ongoing policy of diversification of agricultural production and development of processing.

The plan for attracting investment in the agricultural sector for 2020 is 559 billion tenge with the implementation of 94 investment projects. This pool includes 16 projects with foreign participation worth $837 million, which are currently under development and implementation.

Promising investment projects include the construction of a meat factory with the participation of Tyson Foods Inc., a large American multinational company in the field of meat processing and the construction of a plant for the production of modern irrigation systems Valmont Industries (the USA). On both projects, agreements were signed at the level of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

For reference. There are 95 groups of livestock products, 179 groups of crop production. The export of Kazakh agricultural products to priority markets is growing. So, the export of agricultural products to China increased by 50.5%, to the Gulf countries (Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, KSA, Oman, Bahrain) by 3.2 times, to the countries of Central Asia (Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan) by 7.4%, to the EAEU countries by 8.2%.
