First President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev visited M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University, elbasy.kz reports.

During the visit, Nursultan Nazarbayev met with rector Viktor Sadovnichiy. He saw an exhibition at the First President library devoted to the idea of Eurasian integration. Elbasy also visited the University Museum where he left an entry in the book of Honored guests.
During the conversation with Viktor Sadovnichy, the first Kazakh President stressed that the Moscow State University has a high reputation and international recognition.
The first President of Kazakhstan elaborated on the history of integration processes in the post-Soviet space.
"In March 1994, I came up with the idea of creating the Eurasian Economic Union at Moscow State University. I presented the concept of plans for further cooperation. In 2014, we signed an Agreement on the creation of the Eurasian Economic Union," Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
Elbasy stressed that despite the difficulties, trade between the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union is growing.
– More than forty countries have expressed a desire to join. After all, it is impossible to live in the modern world without integration. Integration creates opportunities for further development of the state. I believe that the EEU has a perspective. And we all have a lot of work to do," the first President of Kazakhstan said.
Nursultan Nazarbayev also noted the development of the MSU branch located in Kazakh capital.
"According to the agreements with the Russian President, we have created a branch of MSU in Kazakh capital. As the branch is expanding the more place needed. Because of this we are providing a new building with a total area of almost 20 thousand square meters to the MSU branch," Elbasy said.
According to the Kazakh Education and Science Ministry, the building is located in the Sary-Arka district and has a capacity for 800 students. In addition, the new building of the Kazakh branch of MSU will contribute to the development of the research potential of the educational institution.
In turn, rector Viktor Sadovnichy expressed gratitude to Nursultan Nazarbayev for the visit, noting his role in strengthening integration processes on the Eurasian continent.
– I appreciate Your attitude to our University and admire Your contribution to the development of the EEU. You made the right and accurate decisions. And all the time we focused only on cooperation, - said the rector of Moscow State University.
At the end of the meeting, Honorary doctor of MSU Nursultan Nazarbayev was awarded the highest award - "The Star of Moscow University".
