The World Health Organization declared the new Covid-19 coronavirus infection as pandemic. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev set specific tasks to prevent the spread of coronavirus in Kazakhstan.

Kazakh officials announced measures taken in Kazakhstan due to coronavirus pandemic.
Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Yeraly Tugzhanov informed the media about the measures taken:
► Sanitary and disinfection activities to increase at health, education places, mass stay and life support facilities: PSC, public utilities, markets, public catering facilities, railway stations, airports and hotels.Starting from March 13, mass events will be cancelled: celebrations, sport, cultural events, conferences, seminars, exhibitions and others.
► Prohibition of visits, enhanced sanitary and disinfection regime at medical and social facilities for the elderly and people with disabilities, social rehabilitation centres, educational institutions for disabled children.
► Excursions for school children during the holidays outside the regions cancelled;
► disinfection activities in public transport to be carried out.
► Early school holidays starting from March 16 to April 5, 2020.
► From March 16, higher education institutions are switching to distance learning.
► Restriction of international passenger services with countries of categories 1A, 1B, 2 and 3;
► Ban travel to international sport, cultural, and tourist events in countries of categories 1A, 1B, 2, and 3.
All the necessary algorithms for organizing sanitary-preventive and sanitary-anti-epidemic measures for detecting coronavirus infection in the country have also been approved.
No cases of coronavirus infection have been registered in Kazakhstan.
Deputy Prime Minister E. Tugzhanov urged the population to believe only official sources.
