Kazakh, Kyrgyz Presidents speak over phone

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev spoke with President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov, Akorda reports.

The heads of state discussed joint steps aimed at maintaining high dynamics of trade and economic cooperation amid the spread of the coronavirus epidemic.

Sooronbay Jeenbekov expressed gratitude to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for help provided during the return of Kyrgyz citizens to their homeland, as well as for assistance in the transit of goods across the Kazakh-Kyrgyz border.

President Tokayev, in turn, assured his Kyrgyz colleague that Kazakhstan will continue to support the fraternal people of Kyrgyzstan.

In addition, during the conversation, the two presidents in a constructive manner touched upon the issues of joint use of water resources in the light of the upcoming irrigation campaign in the southern regions of our country.

Relevant instructions were given to the governments of both countries to promptly resolve all issues.

The talks were held at the initiative of the Kyrgyz side.
