President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev extends state of emergency in Kazakhstan until the end of April, press secretary of the President says.

Today, under the chairmanship of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, a meeting of the State Commission on the state of emergency was held.

"On April 15, my Decree on the introduction of a state of emergency expires. It is already clear that the state of emergency will have to be extended until at least the end of April. We haven't passed the peak of coronavirus outbreak yet. The situation with the epidemic cannot be simplified. For this reason, I instruct you to extend the quarantine regime in the capital, Almaty, Shymkent and in the relevant regions until the end of April. I understand that this is not an easy decision, because people want to go out on the streets and restore a normal, life. But there is no other way out, except for the observance of quarantine, self-isolation. These are recommendations of domestic and international experts, " the Head of state said in his speech.
