Second hospital opened in Kazakhstan

An infectious diseases hospital was opened in Almaty for patients with suspected coronavirus infection.

Mayor of the city Bakytzhan Sagintayev attended the opening.

The structure of prefabricated structures is designed for 280 beds, including 28 for the intensive care unit. It is located in the Alatau district. The total area of the hospital is 5850 sq. m.

The new medical facility is a branch of the city clinical infectious diseases hospital named after I. S. Zhekenova. The head of the branch is the Deputy chief physician of the city's emergency medical services Magaz Mukashev.

According to him, the hospital will employ about 270 experienced doctors. It is planned to accommodate only patients with a coronavirus infection. Patients will be admitted starting next week. It is also planned to deliver 28 ventilators.

A modular infectious diseases hospital opened in the capital yesterday. The Head of state Kassym-Jomart Tokayev visited the newly built hospital.

It is also planned to build a similar hospital in Shymkent.
