Airport in Semey named in honour of Abai

Airport in Semey, East Kazakhstan has been named in honour of great mind, Kazakh poet Abai.

This was reported by the head of the department of culture and language development of Semey Nazerke Akkozhina.

According to her, a decision was made by the Republican onomastic Commission to assign the poet's name to the building.

"According to this decision, on April 26, Semey International airport was named after Abai. The relevant documents were sent. Also, by the decision of the Commission, school No. 47 was named after Akhmet Baitursynov, school No. 37 was named after Ibray Altynsarin, school No. 39 was named after Alikhan Bokeikhanov, school No. 34 was named after Bauyrzhan Momyshuly and school No. 2 was named after Kanysh Satpayev," Akkozhina said.
