First President Nursultan Nazarbayev congratulated people of Kazakhstan on Unity day which is celebrated on May 1.

"Dear compatriots! Please accept my sincere congratulations on Unity day of the people of Kazakhstan! This holiday embodies our best features - openness, trust, and patriotism," the message reads.

Nursultan Nazarbayev reminded that the decision to mark the Unity day was made 25 years ago. Throughout these years we have managed to turn the country's multi-ethnic and religious diversity into a strategic advantage.

"Thanks to our unity, we have overcome many difficulties, achieved respect and recognition throughout the world and achieved great success in establishing our country".

Peace and social harmony will always be the fundamental values that hold our statehood together.

This year we also celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan which unite all ethnic groups around the state-forming nation contributing to the strengthening of our independence.

The unity of Kazakh people is not a historical fact, but a great work and responsibility of each of us.

This year we celebrate the Day of unity in the special conditions. Kazakhstan was also affected by the pandemic.

I am sure that we will successfully deal with all the challenges and become even stronger, clearly following the unshakeable principles of friendship, unity, harmony and mutual support.

I wish all Kazakh people good health, prosperity, peace and prosperity to our country!" the Nazarbayev's congratulatory letter reads.
