Aida Balayeva made a address at the 65th session of the Commission on the Status of Women

From March 15 to 26, 2021, the 65th session of the Commission on the status of women (sic) in a "hybrid format" is held at the UN headquarters in New York, USA, Ministry of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan reports

The theme of the session is "comprehensive and effective participation of women in public life and decision – making, as well as the elimination of violence and strengthening the role of women and girls in achieving gender equality".
Minister of Information and public development Aida Balayeva made a video presentation at the Round Table of the ministry within the framework of the 65th session of the commission on the status of women (sic).
In her speech, A. Balayeva spoke about the role of Kazakhstani women in the economic and political life of society and the conditions created for their comprehensive development.
The minister noted that the state constantly takes measures to achieve equal employment for men and women, promote gender education, support women in rural areas, and prevent domestic violence against children and women.
Until 2023, the ministry will develop and put into effect a map of gender needs in terms of employment in the context of Regions, Cities and districts, access of all women to basic social services, various measures of state support, Aida Balayeva said.
For example, in 2020, Kazakhstan amended the law, which states that party lists should consist of at least 30% of women and young people.
Today, the share of women holding senior positions in the civil service in the country is about 40%, in the judicial bodies-53%, in the activities of public councils – 27.2%, A. Balayeva said.
Majilis deputy, chairman of the National Commission for Women Affairs, family and demographic policy under the president of the Republic of Kazakhstan L. Ramazanova, Minister of internal affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan E. Turgumbayev also took part in the work of the 65th session of the SIC.
In general, the Round Table was attended by representatives of 20 countries of the world. Among them: Colombian Vice President Martha Lucia Ramirez, Italian Minister of equal opportunities and family Elena Bonetti, Kenyan minister of Civil Service and gender Margaret Kobia, UAE Minister of Public development Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid and others.
