Kazakh exhibition at UNESCO’s Headquarter

The National Library of Kazakhstan opens a book-illustrated exhibition called “Course towards the future: modernization of Kazakhstan’s identity” at UNESCO’s Headquarter in Paris, Press Office of Ministry of Culture and Sports reports.

There will be more than 100 publications in Kazakh (both with Cyrillic and Latin scripts), English and French.

The event will be held on October 17 within the framework of scientific and practical conference “Modernization of public identity: the Kazakhstan’s way and the model of N.Nazarbayev”. It promotes main issues of state program “Spiritual modernization” as a transition of the Kazakh language to the Latin alphabet, new humanitarian knowledge, the programs “Tugan zher”, “Sacred Geography of Kazakhstan”, “Modern Kazakh Culture in the Global World”, and “100 New Persons of Kazakhstan”. In addition, the exhibition introduces to the audience the Kazakh culture and traditions as well as with key steps of Kazakhstan’s independence.

As Press Office reports, the exhibition consists of four main blocks, which represents Nazarbayev’s writings and works of Kazakh poets and writers. Additionally, visitors will be able to see the Kazakh books in Latin script, which were published in 1929-1940 when Kazakhstan officially used this script before turning to Cyrillic in 1940.
