Kazakh President meets with Uzbek President in Astana

Within the framework of the working consultation meeting of the heads of the states of Central Asia, Nursultan Nazarbayev met with the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, reports the press service of Akorda.

The Head of the State highlighted the role of Sh. Mirziyoyev in the development and strengthening of bilateral relations.

«With your arrival, we have already met several times, and everything that we have talked about is being implemented and working. This year you have done a great job, have established relationships with neighbours, resolve problems that have not been solved for decades. I am grateful to you for the tremendous job you are doing in Uzbekistan, and this work has a strong influence on all the countries of our region,» said the President of Kazakhstan.

Nursultan Nazarbayev emphasized the important nature of today's working consultation meeting, the idea of which was proposed by the President of Uzbekistan.

«Today we will meet with our colleagues to discuss and solve our economic problems and everyday issues. A lot of such meetings will be held this year: the meeting on Afghanistan initiated by you, the Turkmen side-led meeting on the Aral Sea and other events,» said the President of Kazakhstan.

In his turn, the President of Uzbekistan expressed gratitude for the opportunity to visit Kazakhstan and thanked Nursultan Nazarbayev for the working consultation meeting of the heads of the states of Central Asia organized in a short time.

«Today I want to express my gratitude for your support of the initiative of Uzbekistan to hold a consultative meeting. Nursultan Abishevich, you have always been an advocate of integration since the first days of independence and have always said at all the meetings about the need to unite, cooperate and communicate,» said the President of Uzbekistan.

Sh. Mirziyoyev also noted the political will of the President of Kazakhstan to address topical issues of bilateral cooperation.

«I am sincerely glad that for today, only railway transportations have increased by 44%, and in general the trade turnover between our countries has reached two billion dollars, and as we agreed with you, we will bring this figure to five billion dollars,» the President of Uzbekistan said.
