Kazakh President receives Speaker of South Korea's National Assembly

Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev held a meeting with the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, Chung Se-kyun, reports the Akorda press service.

During the meeting, the Head of State noted the development of trade and economic relations between Kazakhstan and South Korea and expressed interest in their further deepening.

- Your country has very good relations with Kazakhstan. The volume of trade between our countries is about two billion dollars. The positive thing is that the goods of your country arrive to us through the port of Lianyungang, where we have our own logistics terminal. Kazakhstan intends to establish cooperation with Korea in the field of new and digital technologies, in the sphere of industrialization, medicine and other directions, the President of Kazakhstan said.

In addition, the Head of State emphasized the importance of strengthening and developing interparliamentary relations between Kazakhstan and the Republic of Korea.

In turn, Chung Se Kyun thanked Nursultan Nazarbayev for the opportunity to meet and discuss issues of bilateral relations.

The Speaker of the National Assembly noted the rapid pace of Astana's development and praised the global events held in Kazakhstan - the EXPO 2017 international specialized exhibition and the XXVIII World Winter Universiade.

Stressing the strategic nature of developing the bilateral ties, Chung Se Kyun expressed Korea's readiness to become a partner of Kazakhstan in achieving the goals of Kazakhstan-2050 Strategy.

In addition, the Speaker of the National Assembly expressed gratitude to our country’s nation for their help and support to ethnic Koreans deported to Kazakhstan in the 1930s.

Chung Se Kyun has also talked about the results of the meeting with Nurlan Nigmatullin, the Speaker of the Majilis of Kazakhstan’s Parliament and the signing of the Agreement on Cooperation between the Parliamentarians of the two countries.
