"Pilot projects of the cities of Oskemen and Semei which are planned to attract more than 30 million euros will be signed by May 2020. These projects are aimed at modernizing solid waste management systems. Also, attracting a grant and concessional loan financing to the region will improve the technical condition of urban engineering infrastructures, introduce "green" investments in the housing, transport and energy sectors, " the press service of the akim says.

The "Green cities" program is currently being implemented in more than 20 cities around the world and has attracted funding of about 1 billion euros.

East Kazakhstan's executive body has been actively working with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development since 2015 to effectively attract funds from international and financial organizations to the region's infrastructure.
